| Prior
To Your Surgery
1.
Contact lenses change the shape of your cornea
and it is necessary to allow your corneas to return to their baseline readings to insure accurate
measurements and to avoid negative consequences.
If you wear contact
lenses you should discontinue wearing them prior to your surgery so that
your corneas can stabilize:
- Soft contact
lenses: discontinue wear 1-2
weeks prior to surgery
- Rigid gas
permeable lenses (RGP): discontinue wear 3-4 weeks prior to surgery
- PMMA hard
contact lenses: discontinue wear 4 weeks or more prior to surgery
2.
Arrange for a driver to take you to and from the
laser center. It will not be
safe for you to drive. Your vision will be very blurred following
the laser treatment and you will have been given some medication to
help you relax which will make you drowsy.
3.
Avoid using eye make-up, creams, lotions, perfumes and aerosol sprays on
the day of your surgery. |
